DONATIONS OF MONEY

We are very grateful to accept donations of money at any time of year, but particularly in the run up to Christmas when the expenses of running Christmas Care start to mount.

How to donate money

Online donations (+ Gift Aid):  Individuals can donate to us online, using Givey.  Just click on the adjacent logo to be taken directly to our donations page.  Givey enables UK taxpayers to use Gift Aid to increase the value of their donation by 25%.

Cash: Please put into an envelope and give directly to a Trustee.  Receipts will be issued as soon as possible after a cash donation is made.  UK taxpayers may also increase their donation by 25% using Gift Aid - please print out and complete our Gift Aid form to enable this.

Cheque: Please make cheques payable to: Christmas Care.  Cheques may be sent to:  Treasurer - Christmas Care, c/o 8 Hadrians Close, Swindon SN3 4BE.  UK taxpayers may also increase their donation by 25% using Gift Aid - please print out and complete our Gift Aid form to enable this.

Direct to our account:

  • Bank: Barclays Bank, Regent Street, Swindon, SN1 1QB

  • Sort code: 20-84-58

  • Account number: 00884219

  • Account name: Thamesdown Christians Against Homelessness Christmas Care

  • Reference: Please use your name

As with everything this year, we have very different donation needs this time around.  As our planning progresses, we may need to evolve our requests - please keep an eye on the website plus our Facebook page for the very latest situation.

Non-food donations:

For COVID-security reasons, we cannot accept any non-food items this year.

  • NO clothes or shoes

  • NO towels

  • NO sleeping bags or other bedding

  • NO books and board games

Food donations (updated 16 December):

We have had to cancel our Donation Days this year, which is making it really difficult for us to plan for guests.  However, we still really appreciate your support of food donations.  All food will be quarantined for 72 hours before it is used.

Due to the complications of this year, we are only able to accept donations while Christmas Care is open - see the location, dates and time below.

Where to take donations:  Donations need to be brought to The Haven

Donation times: The only times we can accept donations are given below:

  • Dates: Tues 22 December - Sat 26 December

  • Times: 8:30am - 11:30am; and
                  1:30pm - 4:30pm

Many of our long shelf-life basic supplies are being provided by other Swindon charities and agencies involved with the homeless.  Currently we think we will be short of:

  • fresh fruit; and

  • seasonal treats.

The food we do NOT need (as we have already been pledged supplies):

  • NO pasta

  • NO rice

  • NO breakfast cereals

As we are having to work "last minute",  we would be very grateful for financial donations, to enable us to buy missing supplies just before we open (see grey box text).

If we have surpluses left over when we close, we shall be distributing them to other Swindon rough sleeper charities and agencies, as we have in previous years.
